The piece that took Nikki to RHS Chelsea - and the clearest answer to why she calls herself an artist, not a florist.
Most flowers arrive already finished. Floral Evolution is about everything that happens before that. The propagation, the quiet cell-by-cell work, the long climb from seed to bloom that a bunch of flowers never shows you.
At the foot of the piece, seed pods and seedlings sit in rows of glass test tubes. From there it rises and gathers pace, opening at the top into orchids, anthuriums and sculptural blooms - the symphony of the title. The whole thing reads as a single movement, from beginning to full colour.
“I want to be someone you come to for something special”
Nikki built it as a floral laboratory: a study of growth itself, and of the part people play in propagating the plants we live alongside. It earned a Silver medal in the floristry classes at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026 - the year the show's theme was “Laboratory.”
